Pueblo, Colorado’s own Inaiah Lujan, perhaps best know for his work as a songwriting troubadour in Folk-American group The Haunted Windchimes and one-half of Vintage Pop duo in/PLANES is set to drop his latest solo effort — ‘I’m Away,’ is the first single ahead of a full length release due later in the year. The self produced Lo-Fi-Hip-Hop and Latin infused song was inspired by an article Lujan read in Rolling Stone about late Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison, who committed suicide at age 36 in 2018, after having been reported missing for days in South Queensferry outside Edinburgh, Scotland. Lujan had this to say about his song;

“This is a touchy subject, and in some respects culturally taboo — being someone who deals on and off with depression and has contemplated suicide, it felt important to me to draw from my own experience of those dark and seemingly hopeless times, in hopes to shed some light on the mindset one faces when thoughts of suicide take hold.”

The chorus lyric and song’s title was derived from some of Hutchison’s final tweets before leaving this earthly plane: “Be so good to everyone you love. It’s not a given. I’m so annoyed that it’s not. I didn’t live by that standard and it kills me. Please, hug your loved ones” and “I’m away now. Thanks.” ‘I’m Away’ will be available through digital media outlets on March 3rd, 2019, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Daniel Johnston’s ‘Hi How Are You Project.’ Donations to the Foundation fund mental health Awareness, Research and Education.
