about

This came about like most of my ideas, in the middle of the night. I wanted to do something like this for quite some time; in fact it wasn't until I made a list of all the songs I had written in 2012 that I realized I was already doing it. What we have here is Vol. 2 of my "Song Journal," a collection of the songs I have written and recorded this past year in their earliest stages and rarest forms.

I have got into the habit of always recording my songs on my phone, it’s always on me and my memory isn't what it used to be when it comes to remembering newer tunes. It’s also a good way to evaluate and edit, and surely has been a major component in my song writing process.

Being that they are phone recordings, the tracks are varying in quality. Some of the tracks were recorded in a tour van while on the road with The Haunted Windchimes, some in kitchens and livingrooms, in bathrooms and near rivers. Any place really, that I could sneak away for a short moment to be alone with my guitar. Some of the songs you will recognize as being Haunted Windchimes songs or from my most recent project Dog Days, but before they’ve been fully realized and arranged. There are a few songs that I had even forgotten about, and some that take me right back to the place I wrote them.

It was really fun putting this album together; to see myself change, learn and grow through song. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

about

Inaiah Lujan Pueblo, Colorado

"Whether laying down some succulent psychotropic hip-hop as DJ Flow Nase, feeding off of severely distorted barre chords with the riff-heavy punk band A Poor Substitute, or lending distinctive vocal abilities to the peculiar and hypnotic "funeral pop" band The Mexican, Pueblo's Inaiah Lujan is plainly a restless soul."

Track Name: Everything Changes 7/19/12
Looking for a quiet place to get lost
I haven't got a clue where I'm going to
All these changes

Gonna take my time
Gonna see what I find

I haven't been asleep for days it feels like weeks
Love rearranges everything
Everything changes

Looking for peace, peace of mind
I don't know where it's hiding
But I know I'm gonna find it
Just keep on smiling

I've been wondering so long
But I got to be strong
Gotta keep on trying
Trying
Gonna keep on

Looking for a quiet place to be found
Track Name: Sweet Loraine 7/22/12
You know I'm dreaming of you dear
You know I always want you near
Don't make me shed another tear
You know I want you to be here

Just close your eyes and say I do
That you will always love me too
That you always will be true
Love I am lost without you

Now that you're gone I'm always lonely
You know it's you that I want only
I'm wondering if you're thinking of me
My sweet Loraine
Track Name: Crying Again 8/2/12
Don't wanna talk about it
Don't wanna think about it
Don't wanna scream about it
Don't wanna do nothing at all

Don't wanna hear about it
Don't wanna dream about it
Don't wanna sing about it
Don't wanna do nothing at all

I am not gonna let you do me no harm
And you know I can't let you get to me and tear me apart
I am not gonna stand here and let you break my heart
I'm cryin' again, I'm cryin' again
Lord it's been so long
I'm cryin' again

You know I wanna love you
You know I wanna hold you
You know I wanna tell you
Tell you everything
You know I wanna free you
You know I want to believe you
You know I wanna show you
Show you everything

I am not gonna let you do me no harm
And you know I can't let you get to me and tear me apart
I am not gonna stand here and let you break my heart
I'm cryin' again, I'm cryin' again
Lord it's been so long
I'm cryin' again
Track Name: Waiting for the World to See 9/13/12
You never felt sorry for me
I'm thankful for that
Always been truthful to me
So I know where I'm at

No politics or religion
So you're never judging me
Live by your own book
Waiting for the world to see

Gotta funny way of talking
Saying nothing at all
But speaking everything
All and all is all we all are

No politics or religion
So you're never judging me
Live by your own book
Waiting for the world to see

You're never changing
But you're changing me
You're never complaining
Never take from me

Waiting for the world to see
Track Name: Changing Colors 10/11/12
The more I learn, the more I grow
The more I'm still, the more I know
The more I reap, the more I sow
The more I hide, the more I show

The more I want, the more I need
The more I take, the more I greed
The more I own, the less I see
The more I love, the more I'm free

The more I laugh, the more I cry
The more I gain, the more I pride
The more I lose, the more I try
The more I live, the more I die
Track Name: Darlin' Come Back to Me 10/16/12
Where have you gone my deary?
Tell me o' where can you be
You say you're a mess
You've been put to the test
O' darlin' come back to me

Where did I go wrong my hunny?
Please give me the eyes to see
You say you're depressed
Let us put this to rest
O' darlin' come back to me

You know I don't believe in war
But I know you are worth fighting for
Get down on my knees
I'm beggin' please
O' darlin' come home to me

Lately I often wonder
If you may have found another
Should've read the signs
Should've changed your mind
O' darlin' come back to me

Tell me it ain't true
That I make you blue
O' darlin' come back to me
Track Name: Sunshine 10/24/12 (Feat. Desirae Garcia)
At the turn of the mile, I'm rollin'
Rollin' my blues away
Everything will be okay
The sunshine's gonna melt my troubles away
Gonna make it right

One of these days sweet darlin'
You're gonna spread your wings
High above the aspen leaves
The sunshine's gonna melt your troubles away
Gonna make it right

Don't let nobody hold you down
Oh let the wind blow you 'round

One of these nights, sweet lovin'
I'm gonna make you mine
We're gonna take our time
The sunshine's gonna melt our troubles away

Gonna be alright
Track Name: Can't Be Myself 11/1/12
I can't be myself
And I don't wanna talk about it
I wanna free myself
You know I can't live without it

It's just so hard being somebody else
I can't be myself

The days are long
But the nights are even longer
Put it all in a song
But it doesn't cure the hunger

It's just so hard being somebody else
I can't be myself

And so it seems the things I seek
Are leading me to the grave
And this I know
The things I crave are making me a slave

I can't be myself
Track Name: Don't Look Back 11/13/11
Running 'round in circles
Painting pictures of delirium
I'm coming up on thirty and I'm swinging on a pendulum
Forgot where I was going
Which direction I was heading
Living southwest of the river
Even further south from heaven

And it feels I may be slipping
Lord it feels like I am fading
Gotta find a way to reach you
But I think I lost your number

Oh don't look back
Keep pushing on
Stay on the track

Found a picture in a magazine
It looked just like my mother
Reminded me of this dream I had
And oh how I miss my father
But the days are getting shorter
And the nights they're getting longer
I've got so far to go
It seems I'm always starting over

And it feels I may be slipping
Lord it feels like I am fading
Gotta find a way to reach you
But I think I lost your number

Oh don't look back
Keep pushing on
Stay on the track

Close my eyes just for a while
To remind me of the silence
Retreating from the outside world
Devoid of any violence
But I know I cannot stay here
Gotta swim back to the surface
Remeber who I am
And discover my true purpose

And it feels I may be slipping
Lord it feels like I am fading
Gotta find a way to reach you
But I think I lost your number

Oh don't look back
Keep pushing on
Stay on the track
Oh don't look back
Keep moving forward
Keep on the path

Running 'round in circles
Painting pictures of delirium
I'm coming up on thirty and I'm swinging on a pendulum
Track Name: Lead Into Gold 11/18/12
Stirring my muse
speak to me in words I'll listen
Am I confused? And wishing on all that my glisten
Are you amused in watching me repeat this lesson?
Have I abused the gifts you gave to me, I gave away

Oh and I'm gettin' old
Got a ways to go
Turning this lead into gold

In to the void, far away from any street lights
Feeling the pangs of growing wings I want to take flight
And drift away, I'm falling down it seems from great heights
I can't explain, you wouldn't want to hear it anyway

Oh that I'm gettin' old
Got a ways to go
Turning this lead into gold

Make me see, make me see
What do you have in store for me?
Make me see, make me believe
You'll take me in now from the cold

Is this the end, or a means to a beginning?
Are you my friend, or the wheel that just keeps spinning?
I'm such a mess, I cannot hear the words you're saying
Put me to rest, I wanna feel true happiness again

Oh and I'm gettin' old
Got a ways to go
Turning this lead into gold
